These are my designs for a double page spread. These double page spreads are for a pop related magazine. I have used my research of existing double page spreads to influence my designs. I have taken all of the points that improved the magazines and that made them more attractive to the target audience and used them in my designs. Below are my two designs for a double page spread:

These are my designs for a contents page. The content pages are for a pop magazine. I have used my research of existing contents pages to influence and drive my designs. I have taken the advantages of the magazines, that made them more effective and vibrant to the target audience and used them in my designs. Below are my three designs for a contents page:

Draft Version. Front Page.

These are my chosen designs for my cover page, contents page and double page spread. I have chosen these designs, as I feel that they are the most effective, as they resemble pop genre the best. The designs meet the codes and conventions followed by existing pop magazines. Now that I have chosen my design, I will start the photography stage, I will take lots of shots, so that I have several to choose from.

Extra codes and conventions I considered

Codes and conventions I have also considered from the analysis of magazine all hold these aspects:

• A bar code on the front cover

• Large headings on the front cover and double page spreads roughly size '120 pts - 150 pts'. This is the font that I have considered to use as it goes well with what 'pop' means and the trends of my magazine. 

• Consistent house style throughout the magazine.

• Gaze Theory -For an pop genre magazine conventional imagery that is used is of 'bands' or the 'artist'. This is a band shot of 'JLS'. As you can see their fashion sense is 'pop' which will appeal to the target audience. Hair of all the band members is combed back but 'trendy' clothing is worn. Two of the men have slight chest on show which also represents 'cool' and this is other people want to be like with this type of body. Girls will aspire to 'get' men like this, whereas boys aspire to look like the men (attractive and well presentable/ trendy).

Lastly, I will be research a pop artist 'Katy Perry' which again will include her album artwork, website and fashion.

From doing this research I have obtained the information that I will be able to apply when creating my drafts for my magazine, I will be able to apply the knowledge of conventions of this genre and the trends for my magazine. The knowledge I learnt could help whilst taking my photography as I will be able to apply fashion and facial expression to find the right photo for my production.

Music Magazine. Analysis of pop genre - The Saturday's. Research

I have moved onto researching bands and artists of my chosen genre so that I can gain an understanding in what I will need to include within my magazine. I will be obtaining this information through studying three different bands/artists. The three bands/artists that I will be studying are ‘The Saturday's', ‘One Direction' and ‘Katy Perry'. Through studying these three bands/artisit I am hoping to gain the information such as; what type of clothing that this genre wears (that being pop), the meaning of their lyrics and colour scheme/backgrounds that surround that band/artist and the websites that they have produced.
